REPLACEMENT FLAGSHIP APPEAL
OPENING THE FLOODGATES:
Securing the next generation of youth ministry at sea
We need your help and support to help us secure the next generation of sail training at MST. You can either donate or set up a fundraising page using the links above.
Since 1978, the Morning Star Trust has been delivering life changing youth ministry at sea voyages for young people and vulnerable adults.
Our 19 metre gaff-rigged ketch, Morning Star of Revelation, is the oldest purpose built vessel in the UK Sail Training Fleet, and one of only two ferro-cement sail training vessels still in operation. In January 2019, Morning Star was awarded the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s prestigious ‘Sail Training Vessel of the Year’ award.
After forty one years of delivering life-changing voyages, our flagship, Morning Star of Revelation, is in need of replacement. We've identified a suitable vessel to secure the next generation of youth ministry but need your support to purchase and fit her out ready for her new life.
Phase one of the project is to purchase and register the vessel.
Purchase cost: £495,000
Registration and coding: £1000
Phase One Total: £498,700
Phase two will be to carry out some internal modifications to the layout to make her even more suited to our work, and to bring the vessel home to Chatham ready to begin her new life.
Interior modifications: £83,300
Minor equipment renewal to bring vessel to standard, (ie replacing engine intake pipework with fire-proof pipe): £5000
Delivery costs to bring vessel back to Chatham: £2000
Travel to vessel to supervise work: £1000
Phase Two Total: £91,300
