What is our motivation?

The love of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  Perhaps a difficult concept for some people, but honestly it is our main motivation for doing what we do at MST.

Our vessels are named from the same verse in the book of Revelation:

'I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star."  (Revelation 22:16 NIV)

The name 'Morning Star' was on the heart of our founders (Tim and Sara) for a while, but they could not decide. One evening they were at a house church and randomly sang 'You Shine as the Morning Star, Jesus how lovely you are.'  This was a sign to them that the vessel ought to be called Morning Star.  The next day Tim received a postcard with the famous sonnet of Venerable Bede on it which talks of Christ the Morning Star (see photo to the right).

This plaque of the sonnet is onboard MSoR in the Saloon.

From long before the build to figuring out what to call her and even today, Jesus is at the centre of our mission and He is our motivation.  In the bible there are stories of him washing his friends feet, serving the poor and healing the sick.  We want to do this too in our ministry on board Morning Star.
